Windows 10: My microphone input volume keeps going all the way to 100

I have a Rode Podcaster mic, which is excellent, but it doesn't have a gain control. Gain is controlled by using the Windows mic input volume. I set it at around 40, which is perfect, but the minute I start talking into the mic, the input volume starts increasing itself. It ends up at 100 after about a minute, causing a lot of headphone buzz, and it picks up things like my keyboard typing.Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution?

Hello,

Some games that I play reset the Microphone input volume settings.

This happens every time I start the game during the same session in Windows 10.

I have tried make a profile in the voice settings to prevent this but it hasn't helped.

The path I use is:

Recording devices--->Microphone--->properties----"Levels" tab

The slider resets to 100 every time game is started.

Thank you Dalchina. I have tried all the suggestions in the links but to no avail. Microsoft update says all available updates have been installed. I tried one by one from Device manager and it says that the best drivers are already installed for my sound card and usb ports. Sadly, Equaliser API has no effect on my usb plug in mic.

I am using an Asus H31 Gamer mobo. But the mic in question is a plug in usb device so I don't know if the sound card is involved in any way.

I will keep trying to find a solution but in the meantime will just have to speak one inch from the mic so others can hear. Apart from the low volume, its quite a clear mic.

How To Boost Microphone Volume More Than 100%

I have a usb plug in table microphone that sounds clear. The problem is that even at 100% volume I need to hold it 1 inch to my mouth for others to hear. Is there any way to boost the sound level to greater that 100%?

Some microphones have a microphone boost option under levels. This one doesn't*. Is there any way to enable microphone boost for specific microphones, even by using third party software?

Your advice would be appreciated.

* There is the option to use AGC (Automatic Gain Control). But when that is enabled the sound is terrible because it will amplify the noise when I am not speaking.
