Windows 10: MY MONITOR DONT DISPLAY ANYTHING WHEN MY LAPTOP IS PLUGED IN!

im having a truble with my HP prodisplay p201. I have a laptop and im using my laptop to extend display using external monitors, when i bought HP prodisplay p201 monitor it turns out that it has no built in hdmi port so i bought hdmi to vga converter, it works fine when my laptop is in battery mode but when i pluged in my laptop while connected to the monitor, the monitor turns black and says "no input display". I tried everything from basic settings changes to full system reset but it still dont work when pluged in, PLEASE HELP I DONT WANT TO BUY A NEW MONITOR.

Confusing statement! You want to change the display on your laptop that died?

Is that correct?

How do you know its the display that's bad?

Just google "how to change display on a acer 5745"

Should get you to step by step instructions. But first make sure its the display that's bad

 

No display on laptop's external monitor-Monitor recognized but blank

After the recent Windows 10 update, my wife's laptop no longer displays on the external monitor. All was well before the update.

I am comfortable that Windows sees the monitor because clicking on Display Settings shows two displays. If I unplug the HDMI cable, only one display is shown.

I have confirmed that the monitor works by trying it with another laptop. I have also changed the HDMI cable between the laptop and the external monitor.

Device manager reports that I have the latest display driver installed.

I would appreciate any and all suggestions.

 

Laptop display does not detect itself

Hi,

I only have 1 computer (the laptop) and 1 external monitor. The laptop cannot detect its own screen.

So when I follow your steps, this is what happens:

• Go to Settings. (Done)
• Click on System. (Done)
• Under System, choose Display. (Done)
• Under Multiple displays, click on Duplicate these displays and apply. (Done)
• But then I undock my laptop and redock. Re-login, etc.
• Only the external display turns on. The laptop does not turn on its own display. In order to get the laptop display to wake up, I need to follow steps 1-4 again. The settign "Duplicate these displays" does not seem to be retained.
