Windows 10: My photos folder became a copy of document folder

Discus and support My photos folder became a copy of document folder in Windows 10 Network and Sharing to solve the problem; Im having problem exactly like in this post but unfortunatly the answer does not solve my problem.     My photos folder became a copy of document folder


    Im having problem exactly like in this post but unfortunatly the answer does not solve my problem.

    Another clue is that under users/myname/ there is no picture folder anymore

    The picture folder pointing to the document folder under users/myname/documents but moving the location of the pictures would also move the location of the of the documents folder so thats a dead end. Both of them restores to default at users/myname/documents



    I have tried windows repair install and it did not work


    A clean install is not an option since i have programs that have quite complicated user prefence profile and it would take me quite a while to rebuild them.

    Help would be greatly appreciated

    Downloads folder is the Documents folder

    Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

    I suggest you to Restore to Default the folders and document settings and see if it helps.

    Step 1:

    Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

    • Go to Download folder.
    • Right click on the Download Folder and go to Properties.
    • In Properties go to Location tab.
    • In location Tab Click on Restore Default.


    Step 2:

    Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

    • Go to Documents folder.
    • Right click on the Document folder and go to Properties.
    • In Properties go to Location tab.
    • In location Tab Click on Restore Default.
    After performing above steps change the settings as you required and check if it helps.

    Add a Folder from Windows 10 HDD

    Ok yea, just use a shortcut. Right click the folder you want to show in documents and select "create shortcut" and move that shortcut to the documents folder.

    If you copy folders to documents, the entire folder contents is copied, use shortcuts instead so you dont use up hard drive space having duplicate folders in 2 separate places.
