Windows 10: My recycle bin got corrupted, and now deleted items won't show up there.

Literally, I open my laptop and a popup states that my recycle bin somehow got corrupted, literally out of nowhere, I don't even know how this happened. It said did I want to empty the bin from the drive it said it was corrupted on, and I said yes. But now, when I delete something and I check the recycle bin, nothing shows up there, so I'm not able to recover anything. How do I fix this? I've never encountered something like this before.

Deleted Items Not Showing In Recycle Bin

On the desktop there is the recycle bin.

The following has just started to happen.

Before when I deleted something, the recycle bin showed that there was something in the bin.

Now when I delete something the recycle bin does NOT show that there is something in the bin.

I have to click on the recycle bin and OPEN it to see if anything is there.

Then I delete the items I want to.

Can anyone please help.

Deleted Items Not Showing In Recycle Bin

Your Recycle Bin may be corrupt, please note the following procedure will delete all files form your Recycle Bin:

Open a Command Prompt window as administrator:

(Click your Start Button, type cmd, right click Command Prompt in the resulting list and choose 'Run as Administrator')

Paste the following command and hit Enter:

rd /s /q C:\$Recycle.bin

Close the Command Prompt window and restart your system

When your system starts up:

Create a new text file on your desktop and delete it to recreate a new recycle bin on your C Drive
