    My sound settings have messed up on Windows. This is driving me insane, as I can't figure out how to fix it. Long story short, I was trying to set up my Samsung Galaxy Buds through Bluetooth on my PC (which I couldn't even do because it keeps switching back to my speakers everytime I use them).

    When you adjust the volume settings in the bottom right corner, I hear no sound coming out. But I hear sound when I'm using any application---as example, a game or video playing.

    Another issue I discovered is, I have two devices plugged in, my speakers and gaming headphones. I have the speakers set as my default sound device and default communications device. When I switch from the speakers to any other device, it literally changed that other device I switched to, as the default device.

    I've unplugged the headphones for a few days and I decided to plug them back in today, leaving the speakers plugged in. Now my speakers completely disappear as an option as a sound device to switch to and I switch to any other devices, it still keeps setting them as the default.

    I've tried rebooting my PC several times, uninstalling and reinstalling the Realtek sound drivers several times also. I have also unplugged the devices, tried switching both devices in the opposite headphone jacks I plugged them into. It was not like this at all until I tried to set up my Galaxy Buds via Bluetooth settings on my PC. I have no clue what to do. I really want to do anything than reinstalling Windows because I have a bunch of files installed and I really don't feel like reinstalling them all over nor moving them all to a different hard drive again. Someone please help me! I don't even care if you remote into my PC, I just want my sound system to function the way I had it again. My sound settings are a mess! - Windows 10 Pro (1809) 64-bit :(

    I use Windows 10 Pro (1809) OS build 17763.529.

  3. Sound issues Windows 10 64-bit

    I've tried these suggested steps multiple times and it did not help.

    Then I've made a clean installation (erased/formated everything on my HDD) of Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit and upgraded immediately to Windows 10 at the end of the installation of win 8.1.

    After that sound was fine (only GPU drivers manually installed and no other manually downloaded drivers) but then after 2 or 3 restarts sound was gone again.

    I then updated the driver/codec (i have Realtek ALC892) with Realtek Audio Codecs R2.79 and for now it did the trick.

    Hope it will solve the problem in the long term. Stay tuned (-;

    GPU-Z update loop (Windows 10 64-bit)

    I don't have better steps - this is all, I have nothing to add.

    Maybe it is worth noting issue was on Windows 10 Enterprise, build 14393.187, so maybe you should test on the same.
    My other PCs have a different Windows 10 version - Pro, latest Insider Preview build from last week, and there is no such issue on those.
    All are 64-bit edition of Windows 10.

    This issue is not new. I have had same 1-2 years ago too, with older GPU-Z versions.

    EDIT: And yes, I have Windows 10 UAC enabled and set to defaults. If you are using your Windows PCs with UAC off, you likely cannot reproduce this issue. *Smile My sound settings are a mess! - Windows 10 Pro (1809) 64-bit :)
