    Speaker MUTE Key and ICON

    The suggestions about restarting the explorer.exe and running sfc didn't fix the problem. I don't think there is a
    corruped file becuase the mute switch worked fine until the day I upgraded from 7 to 10.

    I ran a copy of Linux Live and the mute icon works fine, going back to win 10 the mute switch is always on regardless the postilion of the speaker mute key, the ICON is always on.

    Disable beep sound when plugging/unplugging laptop charger

    I would suggest you to follow the steps and check if it helps.

    Disable the PC Speakers and check if it helps.

    • Right click on Sound Icon in the task bar and go to Playback devices.
    • Select Speaker and click on properties.
    • Go to Levels tab, and mute (or you can reduce it) PC Speaker and check if it helps.

    How to mute laptop speakers independent from headphones Windows 10

    i tried every step but didn't work for me. I use Windows 7.

    My solution was:

    1st - plug the headphone

    2nd - choose the volume you want

    3rd - in the volume control, click to mute

    It disabled the speaker but the headphone continued in the volume i chose.

    I hope it helps! My speaker is muted. Help ;)
