Windows 10: My system will not let me update to 20H2. Error Code 0x80004005 in WindowsUpdateLog &...

After many weeks of trying, I've decided to come ask for help. Lately, my PC is prompting me to install the feature update 20H2. However, after many attempts, the PC would restart, but tell me that the update failed to install with the error code 0x80242016.




I have visited many of the posts and have tried resetting the windows update servers via Windows Powershell net stop bits,

net stop wuauserv etc. etc., used SFC scannow, dism scannow commands, uninstalled my antivirus and VPN software and removed USB drives. All of them did not work.


In the c:\Windows\Logs\SetupDiag folder, my setupdiagresults.xml contained the error, "Error SP Operation failed: Update Boot Code. Error: 0x80004005[gle=0x000000b7]". So I'm guessing I have a problem with my Boot Code?


I have attached both my setupdiagresults.xml and the setupact.log from the C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Panther folder below.

I have looked over many other posts about this, all with the same error code, but with a different problem.

I have a computer thats a few years old, it has an ABIT kn8-sli motherboard, and its running off windows XP.

I was having problem with the hard drive before I gave up on it awhile back, and now I have come back and resolved that problem, but now when I get to the login screen and type in the password it says its in need of an update, then when it asks me if I want to update I click Yes, and then it says it won't work due to error 0x80004005.

The only operating system I have currently is windows 7. Do I need to go buy a new OS or is this recoverable?
