  1. My tablet upgraded to Windows 10 (again) and I lost my brightness settings

Some years ago, my old Windows 8.1 tablet. A teclast Tbook11 upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. The brightness was set to max, and all options to adjust it disappeared. I managed to downgrade back to 8.1 before passing out from my post eye-surgery headache made infinitely worse by the brightness set to max.

I have since set all connections to metered to stop this from happening again.

I unfortunately connected to a new network by mistake a few days ago, and it upgraded to Windows 10 again, and now my brightness settings are gone.

    What I have done:

    • Updated to the latest version of Windows 10.
    • Checked that my Intel(R) HD Graphics drivers are up to date
    • I have not enabled my Generic PNP Monitor, because there is no monitor section in my device manager.
    • I have disabled the Intel(R) HD Graphics drivers, and re-enabled them.

None of these actions have helped.

There is no brightness option in the notification area, nor when I click on the power icon in the system tray.

There is no brightness slider in the battery area of the settings menu.

Setting the tablet to adjust brightness automatically in the advanced power options, does not do anything either.

I don't want to downgrade to Windows 8.1 again to fix this problem. Any help is appreciated.

    :)

  2. brightness setting problem on windows 10

    Hi Levin,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are unable to set the brightness after upgrading to Windows 10. We will help you.

To understand the issue better, I suggest you to answer the below questions.

    • What is the make and model of your PC?
    • As mentioned keys are not working, are you referring that all the keys are not working or only the brightness function keys?
    • Did you try adjusting the brightness from the power option and check?
Please provide us more information to help you better.

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:
    • Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
    • Try different keyboard or mouse.
    • Restart computer, repeatedly.
    • Google for related issues.
    • Update Bios, because why not.
    • Create boot media and revert to windows 7.
The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.
