Windows 10: My WiFi keeps shutting down. Is this a symptom of a virus?

Hello,I have Windows 10 and a WiFi set up in my home that has worked very well for years until these past two weeks. I've noticed that several times a day my Internet shuts down on my laptop, yet my Smart TV, which runs on the same home WiFi, still continues to work. I'm wondering if these WiFi shutdowns on my laptop are being caused by a virus. When I see that the WiFi has stopped, I reconnect it, which takes a minute or two, so no more than a mild inconvenience; yet, it's happening a lot and it just started recently.Thanks,Daffy D

I would suggest you to try the below methods and check if the Edge works fine:

Method 1:

I suggest you clear the Clear browsing data option
of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

• Click on the More actions icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Edge.
• Select Settings and click on
  Choose what to clear.
• Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files
  and click on Clear.

Method 2:

If you are using any Proxy connection, then try disabling the proxy connection and check.

Follow the steps to disable proxy:

            Click the Settings icon at the top right corner in internet explorer.
            
          • 
            Click the Tools
            button, and then click Internet Options.
            
          • 
            Click the
            Connections tab, and then click LAN settings.
            
          • 
            Uncheck the box next to “proxy server for your LAN”.

            Click on OK to save the setting and close window.
            

Now check the issue by opening Edge.

Method 3:

Follow the below steps:

•Open PowerShell as administrator.

•Run the command

Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

Computer Keeps Shutting Down

I highly recommend following these instructions on checking your computer's temperatures first before resetting your PC - your computer could be shutting down due to it overheating.

I offered my suggestion of resetting the PC because I have a computer which showed the same symptoms - it would shut down and restart after a few minutes of use. I thought it was a hardware issue, maybe a bad hard drive (thermals wasn't an issue), but reinstalling
Windows fixed the problem completely.

If everything is all green on your temperatures, I would recommend resetting the computer unless another suggestion comes through here, in which try that first.
