My Windows 10 desktop screen is sporadically turning on and turning off ~10 seconds -...

Hello to Whomever is Reading This,

I really need some help. I have no one to help me. My family is in PA and I'm in Los Angeles. I must have done something inadvertently to my Windows Home Desktop Computer a few days ago. I lost all my tabs but will have to take the time to try to find them in Chrome's History.

*The biggest problem, which is making it impossible for me to use my computer which I desperately need to do is that everything on my screen and the small icons on the bottom disappear for every 10 seconds or so and then come back. It's impossible to operate a computer that way and it's been impossible to use the computer. I'm losing time in not being able to use my computer. My computer was purchased in 2016 from Costco; it should be working fine.

I did something and I do not know what I did. The performance of the computer is not workable.

I do not know the correct name as to what to call the problem as I am tech-challenged. Please help me. There must be something that can be done if someone in the community can advise me.

    Respectfully,

    HelpMFF

    :)

PC turning off after 10 seconds and then turning back on

I recently moved everything into a new and smaller case, and have been having some issues in doing so.

Basically, when I start up the PC, it boots and then after maybe 10 seconds or so turns back on and stays on. During the first ten seconds and also after, my monitor displays no signal from either GPU.

What is really weird is that to fix this, I tried re-seating my GPU's and re-attaching the cables and this fixed it (as in I was able to access the bios and it did not turn off at all), however, after moving some stuff around inside the case the issue came back (I think I may have bumped the GPU's slightly". This happened a few times, where I would re-seat the gpu's and the issue would resolve temporarily, only to return after fiddling with stuff inside the case. Now, no matter how many times I try to re seat the gpus, the issue persists and while it boots, my monitor doesn't get a signal . All my specs are as listed, except the MB is a gigabyte GA-X99a designare ex.

    Additionally:
    - The GPU's are seated in the first and second PCI-E lane.
    - I think it is unrelated, but when the issue did resolve temporarily, my M.2 ssd would be recognised but I could not boot from it (despite it having windows 10 pro 64 installed when it was on my old motherboard).

The turning on/off makes me think PSU may be the issue, but it doesn't make sense to me why the issue would resolve when I re seated the gpu's if that were the case.

I'd really appreciate any help as I've been trying to figure this out for a few days not and It's really annoying me.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

    Privacy tweaks...

    • Turn Cortana Off. Bring up the Start menu and start typing. Click on the notebook icon in the left sidebar and choose Settings. From there, you can turn off Cortana.
    • Search online and include web results. When you turn off Cortana, you’ll see this option appear. You can turn it off if you’d rather not get web search suggestions from the Start menu, which log your typing and send it back to Microsoft so you can get live-updating predictions, just like you do on Google.com or in Chrome and Firefox.
    • Getting to Know You. In Settings > Privacy > Speech, Inking, & Typing, you’ll find a feature called “Getting to Know You”. This is probably the most sweeping privacy setting on the system, and even after turning off Cortana, you’ll have to disable this setting. Just click the “Stop Getting to Know Me” button to turn it off.
    • Cloud Info. Turning off Getting to Know You removes info from your device, but you’ll have to remove it from the cloud separately. In that same window, click “Go to Bing and manage personal info for all your devices” to clear the Getting to Know You Data from your Microsoft account.

    • If you head to Settings > Privacy > Feedback & Diagnostics, you’ll see two settings:
    • Feedback frequency: Windows will occasionally ask you for feedback so you can send Microsoft your thoughts on Windows 10. If you’d rather it not bug you with such things, you can change it to Never.
    • Diagnostic and usage data: This feature can send a lot of data back to Microsoft, including how often you use certain apps, which apps you use most often, and memory snapshots (which can inadvertently include parts of a document you’re working on if something crashes). You can change this to Full, Enhanced, or Basic. You can read more about what each of these to here.
Microsoft doesn’t let you turn off diagnostics completely, except on Enterprise versions of Windows. The Basic setting, they say, is data that is “vital to the operation of Windows”, including Windows Update and malicious software protection.

some may be duplicated. I found this info on Lifehacker, if anyone wants the full article.
