Windows 10: My Windows 10 laptop says my password is wrong but I'm entering the correct password

My Windows 10 laptop is telling me I'm entering the wrong password when I'm definitely entering the right password.


I used it a day or two ago (although it was noticably - exceptionally - slower than normal) and left it in sleep mode. When it woke up I accidentally tried using my work password and it didn't work. I tried my home password, which is definitely correct, and I'm being told it's incorrect.


I only have 1 account on the laptop. I've tried restarting in safe mode and it doesn't work.


I have most of my stuff backed up but I want to be able to use my laptop.

Wrong Password

The "Old Password" is the password to your local account. It is about to change your local account to a Microsoft Account. If you don't mind this, then enter your local account password. If you think this is overly intrusive of Microsoft, don't do it and let Cortana die.

 

Windows Password


I can use the Windows password on my Win 10 64 bit computer. I can not use it on my 32 bit laptop. It says the Windows password is incorrect when I try to enter it on the laptop. Any suggestions? I can not recover the password on the laptop.

 

Windows Startup password

Is it possible to remove a startup password without being able to log into the system? A friend's laptop just prompt her today for a password that she never enabled. Now, she does have a standard user account password, but that doesn't work for the startup password. She had the computer for about a year now and it has never asked for a startup password until today.

I tried to use Hiren Boot CD to run a diagnostic on the laptop, but it has a bsod. Windows 10 normal boot crashes as well
