    My Windows 10 Update System Does Not Work


    For about two days now my Windows 10 update setting does not work. I have never had problems ever before with getting updates but now when I go into settings and click on UPDATES and click on CHECK FOR UPDATES, nothing happens. Oh yeah the time changes to the current time almost instantly but the system does not actually search for updates anymore. I have to open my Windows Defender and search for updates there and then they download and install. This has just started and I can't seem to fix it. I tried this

    but it did not find any issues. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hi Molly,

    May we know if you have made any software changes to your device before you attempted to do a System Restore?

    We suggest that you boot your device in Safe Mode, and attempt to do a System Restore from there. Safe Mode starts Windows in a basic state, using a limited set of files and drivers and may help you troubleshoot problems on your PC.

    You may follow the steps on this
    link     to boot your device in Safe Mode.

    Hi David,

    Thank you for your reply.

    I have only used system restore twice in the last four years, and it worked. To my knowledge, I haven't made any software changes.

    System Restore wouldn't work in Safe mode.

    I tried to use system restore, as I have a problem in Google Chrome and. Trusteer End Protection which don't seem to be compatible.

    Try this, run it as admin, I cooked it up myself, so no guarantee it will help, but it is worth a try. *Nerd
