Windows 10: my windows security dashboard is showing quick scan necessary.

I have noticed that my security dash board is showing once again that a quick scan is due.

When this occurred a few weeks ago I found that turning the scan on it it never stopped and the lack of a progress bar made it more confusing.


The last it it happened it seemed to cure itself.


The updates are up to date. . I am using apps from the security checked Windows 10 S store .So I am puzzled


I am wondering is the "quick scan due" a redundant feature for Windows 10S.

Windows Defender - Quick Scan

Windows defender no longer offers a quick scan option.

My options are:

• Scan
• Advanced Scan

• Full Scan
• Custom Scan
• Windows Defender Offline scan

Whichever option I check, the scan will need to run for hours to complete.

Is a quick scan available?

How do I restore this feature?

If not, suggests deeper problems. To which uninstall option are you referring? (A picture is worth...)

 

Quick Scan?

Not necessarily. The time taken is calculated from the actual start and finish times. If you put the machine to Sleep/Hibernate part way through a scan the time taken will include the time spent asleep. Here's a quick scan that I put to sleep for more than 15 minutes part way through....





Uninterrupted, the same quick scan takes 1 minute 23 seconds.
