Need a Media Player for Win 10

Hi folks, I'm a new guy to Win 10 and this forum. I have been using Windows for many years, but know almost nothing except the very basic functions. I need a new media player. I only plan on ripping and burning movies, photos, and music. I want an application that is very very simple and easy to use. Can somebody make a recommendation for a complete novice.

    Thank you

    :)

Did you use Windows Media Player before Windows 10? If so, it is still on Windows 10. Just search (type in the Cortana box) for Windows media player...it will bring you more options than you could ever think of on your on.

I'm sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. Thanks for your assistance. I didn't explain my problem correctly. I am running Windows 10. What I want from a "Media Player" is the following:
    1. I have CDs and DVDs on my system that I put there years ago that I want to access.
    2. I want to add more CDs and DVDs onto to my system (rip?).
    3. I want to be able to copy CDs and DVDs from the system to discs (burn?).
    4. I want o be able to play any of the CDs and DVDs that I have on my system new additions and previously existing CDs and DVDs.
I am looking for an application that that will do the above with a very SIMPLE series of commands. When I say simple I mean do any of the above by selecting by selecting an obvious command. I have been told that most applications don't do all of the above. In the past there were applications that could do all the things I want. If somebody knows of current application or if there is a set of applications please let me know.

    Thak you

I use Windows Media Player/WMP [set as Default player] to play audio CDs, data DVDs with stored files and various HDDs with music Folders, I use WMP to Rip CDs to the computer, usually have it set for .mp3 instead of .wma format and can use it to burn music files to disc, usually CD-R. Don't actually have to use the CDs coded as Music. I've not played with the DVD that come as the music type. WMP can play music files stored on any type of device connected to the computer. Groove is okay but I don't have a preference for it. For many formats not included with WMP it is useful to use VideoLAN/VLC. As for stored files just double-clicking one in File Explorer will open the default [WMP in my case] then doing the same for a different one or drag to WMP to play it. Can also create custom play lists [.wpl].

    Hey,

Call me a heretic, but I use iTunes for all that you mentioned. While far from perfect, it is made for a broad public and everyone can use it easily. Additionally, as it's big popular software, if you don't know something, a quick google will instantly yield you an answer. With iTunes I: 1) Pop CDs in my pc and copy its contents to my harddisk (ripping sounds like some heavy illegal activity, which it's not...) so the songs are on my harddisk; 2) Listen to music, both from CD and from my harddisk, including my very old music that I've had for about 15 years on my pcs, 3) Burn new CDs so I can listen to my music in my car, oldfashioned-style.

I sound like some advertisement lol, far from, I have many issues with iTunes (mostly its bulk), but it's a pretty effective way to deal with and organize your music.

You don't need an iPhone to use iTunes. Just for clarity.

I do like iTunes sometimes but a problem I had some time back was in copying or moving just the music files to a different device, something to do with licensing.

I am with the VLC Guy best media player,
I use kodi as a replacement for Windows media center, its open source and it plays my "legal" backed up DVD and Blu Rays it can also Rip to mp3 its all legal, and open source it does require some skills with how software works but the wiki has all the info so
You can also stream "again all legal unless you do something un legal" live TV, as with all media center software that is ofc possible.
It will crash at times but i only have that problem when exiting the program
check it out has lots off addons you can install in the program.
It does not fully support Blu Rays but its clever enough to change the settings by itself to only show minimal Blu Ray menu but it works great it can look up imdb for plot and dl images
    so check it out

  10. Look for K-Lite Codec Pack online.
It installs the Media Player Classic Home Cinema player.
Easy to use. Plays all file formats. Very reliable. Simple interface.
I find it far superior to all other players.
