Windows 10: Need CPU Temperature?

Here's the thing. Temperatures are reported by the hardware as a negative offset from TJMax. The software then adds what it thinks is the correct TJMax for the processor to the reported temperature. If the software uses the incorrect TJMax, the temperature will be off. Different software may use different Tjmax.

From what what I have been able to find, TJMax = 90 seems right for that processor. But what is being reported by the hardware is that you are 90-82 = 8c degrees away from TJMax. That number (8c) is correct and means your processor is running really hot. you are only 8 degrees from thermal throttling of the processor.

I lost Speccy, which was gr 8 t when Win updated its new build for 10. Sure wish I had a replacement.

I also lost Unlocker and wonder if MBAM's File Assassin does the same?

 

You can reinstall Speccy and it will work.

 

This is the reply I just got from another person,
" I haven't lost any programs, but I did install Speccy yesterday to check some temps and it caused all sorts of freezing problems with the latest build of Win 10.
After I uninstalled Speccy, everything went back to normal."

I am now confused.

 

Keep in mind that the person who replied might have had other issues that cause the temp to spike and the freezing. From my understanding you can install Speccy without any issues and it will work just fine.

 

That is true. I will see how it works. I thought lost both programs when the update occurred but will check again.

You can get the temperature in the BIOS...

 

Surprised no one mentioned Open Hardware Monitor, it's the only program I need for real-time temp measurements (I have the gadget enabled at startup).

 

Temps in BIOS don't mean much as it's in idle than. AMD systems are notoriously bad at showing idle temps accurately , only under the load and when temps approach max it starts showing more accurate. With AMD systems, it's better to use program like AOD that shows Temperature margin, when it drops under 10c it means it's about to throttle down. About 20c would correspond to 55c at core temp.

If you just want CPU info both CoreTemp1.2 and RealTemp 370 work well

OHW hasn't been update in 18 months or more , but I think it sees most Modern Hardware well

HWInfo64 is update Regularly , with new MB's and sensor support added etc , eg the new X99 line from Asus, lots of info and options given though.
