Windows 10: Need help configure storage drive

I just got a Dell XPS 8930 running Windows 10 Pro with a OS C: 220 Gb OS SSD and a DATA D: 930 Gb Data hd. The computer was shipped configured to save new data to to the OS hd.

After I discovered it a few months later, a rather disgruntled Dell rep helped me to configure to save to the DATA drive.

The computer just wouldn't let me move the data on C: to D:. So I copied it from a backup to D:.

When I try to delete my data from the OS C: drive - it also deletes it from the Data D: drive.

I really need to rectify this. Was pretty disappointed to get no help whatsoever on the Dell forums. And the guy in Bangalore who initially reconfigured it by phone did not want to deal with it.

I suggest you to update Storage controller drivers and check if it helps.

Steps 1:

  Press Windows key + X.

  Select Device manager.
  
• 
  Expand Storage controller.
  
• 
  Right click on the driver and Update the drivers.
  

Steps 2: Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue
is with device. Refer these steps:

  Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.

  Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.

  Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.
