  1. Need help nailing down a freezing issue

So I made the mistake of upgrading to Windows 10 December of last year and it's been causing some... problems. The biggest one of note that I haven't been able to nail down for months is a freezing issue that's both inconsistent and infuriating. Basically, at some point while my PC's been powered on, some process will freeze. Event viewer doesn't give any information as to what, but it basically just cascades into an entire OS freeze. No error screen, no event report other than "Hey you hit the reset button, that turned off the power you know!", nothing. Only consistency seems to be it happens most frequently during downloads. Windows updates, game installs, etc. Never had this issue with Windows 7 and I haven't had ANY luck in narrowing down what the hell is happening. I've done multiple clean installs, updated and reinstalled drivers, nothing.

    What I'm running:

    - Windows 10 Pro 64-bit- Intel Core i5 2500K @ 3.30GHz, Sandy Bridge 32nm (Yeah it's old)- 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 824MHz- ASUSTeK Computer INC. P8Z68-V PRO GEN3 (LGA1155)- 4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (EVGA)- 894GB ADATA SU650 (SATA (SSD))- ASUS PCE-AC56 802.11ac Network Adapter

If anyone has literally any ideas as to what this could be, or even just how the hell I could figure it out, I'd appreciate it. I really don't want to have to format my drive and go back to Win 7, especially since, you know, it's no longer being supported with security updates. That strikes me as a bad idea.

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.
