    I purchased a Sony 4k tv to watch movies and series using hdmi cable which is causing display issues such as lagging, and jittery display, audio lag, visible choppy frames upon asking people I realised I need to use a 4k hdmi as well. Which after using still does not help. I also played with extending or duplicating displays. I searched for soulutions and found the drivers might be old and outdated. I tried playing with settings like advanced display, disabling the graphics drivers, yet I can't figure it out. can someone please help me out! Could there be an issue with the drivers, the faulty

    Hdmi sound not working

    Hi Peter,

    One possible reason why the HDMI sound does not work is due to the conflicts with the playback settings. For us to help you make the HDMI sound to work, we suggest that you answer the following questions for further research:

    • Have you made any recent changes to your computer?
    • What is the current build and version of your Windows 10?
    • Have you tried to download and install the most updated sound and display driver of your computer?

    Meanwhile, we suggest that you perform the steps on this

    as our initial troubleshooting and see if there will be any changes on the HDMI sound.

    What exactly happens when you shut down the computer?



    I would suggest you to try the following steps and check:

    Step 1: Update the Display driver. Please follow the steps given below to update the display driver.

    • Click Start and go to Run.
    • In the Run prompt, type devmgmt.msc and then click
      OK.
    • Device Manager will open.
    • In Device Manager expand Display adapters.
    • Right-click the display driver and click Update Driver Software.
    • Select Search Automatically for Updated Driver Software.


    Step 2: Check if there are any updates for display drivers available in Optional Updates; this might fix the issue. Refer to the following steps.

    • At the Start screen, type Windows Update.
    • Click or tap Settings on the right side of the screen, and then select Install optional updates from the left results.
    • When the Windows Update control panel opens, click on “Check for Updates” on the top left corner to receive a fresh list of updates.


    Step 3: If the issue persists, I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the Display driver. Please follow the steps mentioned below to uninstall the display driver.

    • Open Device Manager.
    • Expand Display adapters.
    • Right-click the display card driver and click
      Uninstall
      .
    • Windows will prompt you to confirm the device’s removal. Click OK to remove the driver.
    • After the un-installation is complete, reboot your computer as soon as possible.
    Computer will load the generic display drivers. Now, please go to the manufacturer’s website, download and install the compatible display card drivers for your computer and check.

    The issue that you’ve encountered when you’re trying to set up the HDMI connection to your TV may be caused by some configuration or the display driver on your PC is not yet updated. To sort out your concern, we suggest that you follow these methods:

    Method 1. Use a different HDMI port

    Since you’ve mentioned that you have tried using 2 different cables, we suggest that you also try to plug it into a different port to verify if it’s functional.

    Method 2. Run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter from the Control Panel

    This process will scan and correct any possible cause of the issue. To do this, you may proceed with the steps below:

    • Click Start, type Control Panel, and then press
      Enter.
    • On the Control Panel search box, type Troubleshooting and select it from the search results.
    • Click Hardware and Sound > Hardware and Devices, and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
    • After completing the steps, you may check if the issue persists.

    Method 3. Update the Display drivers on your PC

    This process will determine if the issue is not related to the driver. To do this, you may follow the steps provided in this article on how to
    update drivers in Windows 10. Once you’re on the page, you may
    proceed with the steps, and then complete the process. After completing the steps, you may check if you’re able to connect your TV to your PC using the
    HDMI cable.
