Ok, so i have an old laptop that's hhd was infected with a virus that screwed windows up. I have some data on the thing that i need to pull off and put onto my new laptops hhd. So what is the safest and easiest way to get the data from old laptop to new laptop?

Need some help. Old HDD. New laptop.

I have a new laptop, some asus with an AMD A8 apu. My old pc pooped out but the HDD is still good, tested in a different PC. I would like to either be able to boot from that old HDD to my laptop. are there any docking stations capable of this? Im pretty sure the laptop has USB Type C.

Or is there another way to transfer the programs I need from the old HDD to the new drive? I thought this was called duplicating or image copying? I'm not sure.

The programs I have and want to use are from 2007 and a new copy costs $500...I don't need the new copy, just would like to transfer the program and data for the program to the new lappy HDD without earasing w/e is on the lappy HDD.
