Windows 10: Need help with recovering windows.

    Need help with recovering windows.


    It is in AHCI and there is no setting to turn on or off the sata port that I can find.

    Is it possible that the new drive might not be formatted properly for diskpart to see it?

    It's possible, but I would think diskpart would at least see the physical drive itself. Have you tried connecting it to a different SATA port? I would also try making a bootable USB/DVD/CD of Kyhi's recovery drive:
    Windows 10 Recovery Tools - Bootable Rescue Disk - Windows 10 Forums

    Boot the computer from that, see if the drive shows up. Try MiniTool Partition Wizard. His recovery drive also has a low-level disk formatting utility.

    Well, its a laptop, so there is no other port to try. I will get another usb and try that tool.

    Well diskpart now can see the drive, but I am still unable to restore windows.

    Insert the Recovery USB into any working PC and see if you have a reconstruct.wim in the sources folder...

    Yes, it is there, but for some reason the recovery software is not finding any image when in my laptop. I even put another image of a different laptop on the drive and it doesn't see that one either. I'm not sure why.

    Open the PBR-diskpart file
    or attach both PBR files to post

    because you have the needed recovery files - so it has to be the configuration

    No change, I dont think it is in the configuration because it cant find the image. I am going to try to download windows and see if that works.
