Windows 10: Need Some Graphic Card advice

Thanks bobkn....I was thinking myself to download the drivers and have them ready for install.

And then follow your advice for everything else on down the list.

Yeah about the card I did a major search and couldn't come up with a better card for the money that your link provided.....I'll let everyone know how it went after the install!

Ok everybody that helped me out with this.....Big success....I installed the new card yesterday and everything went off without a hitch.....Murphys law must have taken friday off lol.

I took bobkn's advice on the card and followed his advice to the letter on the install and I now have a great looking picture and a silent PC again.....I couldn't believe how much bigger the new card was compared to the old GT 620.....But she slid right in with no problem and plenty of space.

The lower end 1050 (75W) cards don't require an auxiliary PCI-E power connector. There are higher end 1050 cards (120W) that need a 6 pin PCI-E connector. Don't get one of those.

 

A little late to the party bestellen but thats ok too.....We already discussed this on page 1 of this thread.....And since I stated on the post just above yours that I installed it and everything is working fine 4 days ago I guess I bought the correct card.

But no problems with your post I welcome all advice good or bad!

 

You can do 4k on a 1060, especially on video playback.

 

Just wanted to share one more thing that I have learned after installing my new GPU.

If you are updating your current Nvidia GPU driver with the newest version driver you don't need to uninstall anything because Nvidia will do it for you.

One week after I installed my Nvidia GPU they came out with a newer driver version already so after much research this is the way I did it.

Download the newer driver to your PC then open and run it and make sure you do a custom install and then check or uncheck whatever you want added from the selections and then at the bottom of that little screen you will see another box to check that says something like "Do a clean install" then follow it through and Nvidia will wipe out your control panel and your existing driver and lay down an all new control panel and driver.

This worked perfect for me and I'm just talking about Nvidia not another companies GPU driver software.
