BCD problem, Identified Windows installations: 0 (Existing solutions haven't worked)

Well, I've spent two days trying to get the Win10 installation media, with no luck. The Media Creation tool runs for about 24 hours, then reboots the machine, but no iso is created. Searching for help on THAT topic shows that this tool is frequently
broken for many people, and there is no place to just simply download an ISO. Why must MS make this so difficult? I just need some simple WIn10 tool to repair the BCD, right? Is there some simpler way to get the tools I need?

  3. Product Key for Windows 10 Didn't Work

Seems the <Win10 ISO> site does exactly what the Media Creation Tool does,

    except media creation tool can make a USB drive;

the download is only an ISO file (go figure how to burn that to a dvd).

    also to note:

    the
    media creation tool
requires an internet connection in order to work. otherwise it hangs on 0% and you watch it do nothing without any "cancel" button.

    use the Media Creation Tool
select create media for another PC
    select create ISO file

no need to upgrade via Tool, just create media

How long ago did you download the Media Creation Tool you used to get the ISO?

Look at the Properties for Setup.exe. On the Details tab it gives the file version, 10.0.15063.0 means that it's for 1703 (14393 is for 1607). You can check the version of your MediaCreationTool.exe in the same way.

According to that I loaded 1703. Looks like they pulled 1607

They've replaced the MCT with a new one that downloads the 1703 .iso but haven't pulled the .iso itself. If you still have an old copy of the MCT (you want version 14393) it will still download an .iso for 1607.

Why do you want a 1607 .iso? There may be other ways to achieve what you want to do with it.

I have old MCT dated Aug 2016 and loaded the same file
    I have a copy of 1607

    Thanks

Need to get Win10 ISO's without Creation Tool ?

try visiting the Windows 10 downloads site using a different "user agent" string in Firefox or Chrome [howtogeek article].
that usually makes the Win10 downloads page behave differently and may present you with options to download the ISOs themselves without downloading the MCT.

    Great news!

I have a collection of the previous MCT's so I can download any .iso version I want. I used the first MCT to make an original-release 10240 .iso last month.

Just found a old MCT 10.0.10240.16399
What version is that for ?

    Thanks
