  1. Need to keep laptop moving constantly. Do not have an external mouse or admin access.

I have to keep my cursor moving or a program on my computer will show me as "away" after like 5 minutes of idle. I am pretty sure the keyboard being used would work as well. I don't have a physical mouse and it is a work laptop so I can't download anything or mess with the settings.

    Thanks in advance

external wired mouse moving wrong direction

    Hi,

To better assist you, please clarify the following:

    • Have you tried using
a different external mouse and see if the same issue will occur?

    • Did you make any changes on your computer before the issue started?

    • What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

    Regards.

  3. Disabling trackpad when external mouse is active

I have an ASUS laptop running Win10. The touchpad gestures sometimes accidentally activate and make a hash of my typing. I wish to use an external mouse and disable trackpad automatically when that mouse is active. Your advice says:

    1. Go to Settings.
    2. Select Ease of Access.
    3. Click Touchpad.
    4. Under Touchpad, toggle the switch on or off.
    5. You can also uncheck the box beside Leave touchpad on the when a mouse is connectedoption to disable it when you use a traditional mouse.
Once done with the steps above, check if the issue will persist.

As you no doubt know, these instructions are WRONG. There is no toggle switch under touchpad, and no option to toggle touchpad off when using external mouse.

I allow WIN10 to update. It is updated.

So what is the secret? And why is it a secret?

  4. Need to keep laptop moving constantly. Do not have an external mouse or admin access.

mouse axis ''X'' is now ''Y'' and viceversa

    Hi Richiesco,

I would suggest you to test the issue plugging in a different mouse and see if the issue persists.

You may also test the same mouse on a different computer and let us know the results.

I would also suggest you to follow these steps and test the issue:

    • Click on Start.
    • Search for Ease of Access and click on Ease of Access mouse settings.
    • Turn on Use numeric keypad to move mouse around the screen.
    • Check if the mouse moves in the right direction when you use the numeric keypad on the keyboard.

Let us know if it helps.
