Windows 10: Need to migrate reformat LaCie external drive from XBOX format to Windows 10

Ok, This drive has a lot of "history"

- used to be my time vault in an old mac

- then got "promoted" to Xbox

- now, I need to use it as an external drive in my MS Surface with Windows 10


No, it doesn't show in the directory view

Formatting External hard drive.

1. Launch the Disk Manager with diskmgmt.msc
2. Use right-clicks to delete all partitions on the external disk
3. Create one or several new partitions
4. Format them

I formatted my seagate external hard drive for my Xbox one X . for storage space.

Know I cant reformat it to use on my PC ?

Is LaCie external drive detected in Device Manager?

I suggest you to update LaCie external drive drivers in Device manager and check. If issue persists install driver in Compatible mode.

Compatibility mode

Follow the steps below on how to install driver in compatibility mode:

1. Download the driver from the manufacturer’s website and save it on your local disk.

2. Right click on the setup file of the driver and select “Properties”.

3. Select “Compatibility” Tab.

4. Place a check mark next to “Run this program in Compatibility mode” and select operating system from the drop down list.

5. Let the driver install and then check the functionality.
