Windows 10: Needa bit of help with windows 10 to open txt files with notepad...

Discus and support Needa bit of help with windows 10 to open txt files with notepad... in Windows 10 Support to solve the problem; Windows 10 is a very nice OS...     Needa bit of help with windows 10 to open txt files with notepad...


    Windows 10 is a very nice OS... But it sure has some annoying stuff... Well at least on my machine...
    Maybe I have a Registry setting that is set wrong...
    Here is what is happening...
    I use a lot of txt files... But this is really ticking me off... I did not want to use the word I was thinking about...
    I search for a fiIe, I find it, I click on it then and get the"What do you want to open this file" window, I pick notepad and open it, get what I need and close it...
    A minute later I need to open the same file again and I click on it and the "What do you want to open this file" window opens again... Windows 10 can't remember what I used to open the file a minute earlier...
    Hell I made the txt file with notepad to begin with you would think it would know to open a file with the program that made it...
    If I want to open it with something else I would right click on the file and click "open with"...
    But windows 10 gives you the same window when you double click the txt file or right click and click open with...
    I don't remember windows xp or 7 doing this...
    Can some one tell if I can fix this... Thanks...

    Windows 10 Notepad opens txt files with Cyrillic text as garbage

    My win 7 machine Notepad opens txt files with Cyrillic fine but my Win 10 machine Notepad opens the same txt files as garbage, but types Cyrillic OK. MS Word 2010 on the Win 10 machine opens the file OK but asks what to open the font as. Windows Cyrillic
    is default and opens the file fine. I have Russian keyboard selected in input method.

    Thank you Fardin. Your answer was helpful but did not solve my problem. When I double click on a .txt file, notepad (which is the default program for .txt files) opens it in a partial window not a maximized window. Your fix did not change this. This is
    a change from notepad in earlier versions of Windows which opened maximized.

    I went with option two... I saved the url for it... I will take a better look at the list tomorrow and see what else I can find that will work for me...Thanks again for the quick comeback...and you have a..."Very Merry Christmas"...
