netgear 2 ban adapter 5 GHz broken-2.4 Ghz is fine after 1809 update

I have a Dell XPS 8500 desktop that after the 1809 update my WNDA 4100-N 900 wifi adapter has become useless on the 5 GHx side. 2.4 is still fine. Initially after the update the 5 side would connect but would fade out. I had no problems before the update. As I said 2.4 works fine and is still working fine. I have reinstalled the Netgear drivers, I have a TPLink AC 1900 router that I reset to factory then re-put my settings into it. Didn't help.
I then did something I now consider to be really stupid, I reset the computer. Reinstalled my programs, but it did not fix the problem. I could connect using the 5 GHz but it was super slow, sometimes could not even connect. Using InSSider Home I notice that there were quite a few people on my channel 36, so I switched to 40. Now it would not even connect. The 5 GHz side works fine on my phone, but on the computer, no way. I have no other way to check it. Thanks in advance for any help.

    :)

Atheros AR9485WB-EG Wireless Adapter - No 5 GHz Reception

This is my first post. I have an ASUS notebook running Windows 10 64 bit OS. I have a Linksys router transmitting on both 2.4 and 5 GHz. I can receive the 5 GHz signal on my iPhone but not on my notebook. Installed latest driver and when I go to the adapters' properties it only shows 802.1b Preamble with no way to select a or g. It is my understanding that b only receives 2.4 GHz. Looking for suggestions on how to receive 5 GHz or whether it is possible with this adapter. Thanks.

    5 gHz Wifi

I installed a new Cable Modem Router that has dual band, 2.4 gHz and 5 gHz wifi. Everything works fine on my cell phones but when I connect to the new wifi, my computer does not see the 5 gHz wifi. I am using Windows 10 on a HP Pavilion g6. The computer
is more than 5 years old. Is there a way to get the computer to recognize the 5 gHz wifi, which is more reliable than the 2.4 gHz?
