Discus and support network adapter can save priority setting. in Windows 10 Drivers and Hardware to solve the problem; I change my Ethernet priority to 9999 and Wifi priority to 1. it still take me to use ethernet connections.     network adapter can save priority setting.


    I change my Ethernet priority to 9999 and Wifi priority to 1. it still take me to use ethernet connections. I want to use Wifi connections even my pc plug directly to wired connection.

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. I understand your concern and I am glad to assist you.

    I would suggest you to run the Network adapter troubleshooter and check.

    Method 1:

    Step 1:

    • Type troubleshooter in the search bar.
    • From the list click view all and select network adapter.
    • Follow the onscreen instructions thereafter.
    Step 2: Perform an SFC (System File Checker) scan on your system for any corrupted file settings.

    • Press Windows + X on your keyboard.
    • Select Command prompt admin.
    • At the command prompt type “sfc /scannow” (no quotes), and then press ENTER.

    Method 2: If there is any third party software conflict then perform a
    Clean boot.

    (Applies to Windows 10)

    Note: You need to refer to the steps suggested under the section, “How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot” to get the computer back to Normal Startup.

    If the issue persist I would suggest you to install the latest network card drivers from computer manufacturer website and check.

    Windows 10 Network Adapter Priority not saved

    When I go to my adapter window from network and sharing settings and I press ALT and click advanced and then advanced settings, I move the priority of one of my network adapters above the other and click ok. This is not saved and does not work. It used
    to work on my windows 8 and windows 8.1 as well as windows 7. This is an issue across a multitude of computers I own occurring only with Windows 10. I would like to know if there is a way to make it save or to hard set the priority via registry. I have tried
    the metric and changing it both via properties > advanced > switch off auto metric and set a number and via powershell. This doesn't solve anything. When will this issue be fixed or how can it be fixed?

    Hello Denis, network adapter can save priority setting. :)

    The command in step 2 of Option Two should show your wireless networks listed in priority order. Top of the list is higher.
