Windows 10: Network Connections....something not understood

Discus and support Network Connections....something not understood in Windows 10 Network and Sharing to solve the problem; Does Windows 10 still have BIOS? I thought it was something else now.     Windows 10 'has' whatever is in your PC's hardware/firmware. Older machines have BIOS, newer use UEFI. How-To Geek explains...

    Something seems odd. I just noticed that with Ethernet disabled with no cable connections in either router or computer port, and WiFi active, there is still a X visible in Control Panel Network Connections.

    Day before yesterday had numerous dropped DSL incidences too. All is utterly confusing.

    Xstable tois gone now. Would anyone like to comment on the DSL drops? All seems stable today. I have also noticed that upstream SNR is about the same as downstream, whereas before the upstream was a lot higher, by day 4 dB.
