Computer won't connect to Wifi; asks for ethernet cable

My laptop completely disconnected from the wifi and now asks for an ethernet cable. I've never used an ethernet cable on my laptop and I would prefer to not use one. I've gone into settings and it only says to connect with an ethernet cable and won't bring up any networks. The wifi network I originally used is working on all other devices, including my phone which I'm currently using to ask this question. I've tried to find the driver; however there is no driver in my laptop, and I've tried finding the router in my devices but there is no router. I've never had this issue before. I connected the brand new cable and it still does not work. Ive restarted my computer thousands of times today. And still nothing. Ive had my computer for 2yrs and everything has been find until today around 8am. Its now 10pm and nothing. Ive tried to restore to the latest version and still nothing.

Losing network connection

Hello Dear, if you have a laptop or a PC with a wireless network adapter, you can see a list of available wireless networks and then connect to one of those networks. The wireless networks will only appear if your PC has a wireless network adapter installed, the adapter is turned on, and the wireless access point is in range.

1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections.

2. In the left pane, under Network Tasks, click View available wireless networks.
In case, If you don't see the network you want to connect to, click Refresh network list. If you see the network but the signal is weak, move the PC closer to the wireless router.

3. Click the network you want to connect to, and then click Connect.

4. If you're connecting to a secure network, type the security key, and then click OK.
