    Network Printing Not Working

My network is set up as follows:
    ASUS-LAPTOP
    DESKTOP
    GRADYLAND
    LEVONO-LAPTOP
    TOSHIBA-LAPTOP
    (from file explorer on DESKTOP)
DESKTOP is my main workstation, GRADYLAND is the name of my WIFI network and the others are computers scattered throughout the house.
I have an HP Laserjet 1020 connected to DESKTOP via a USB port which is intended to be my network printer and sporadically I have been able to print to it from the laptops, but not anymore. The printer works fine so long as I print from DESKTOP.
The network in file explorer on TOSHIBA shows the same five entries as above.
The network in file explore on ASUS and LENOVO both show the following:
    ASUS-LAPTOP
    LENOVO-LAPTOP
    That's all.
Under settings, devices, printers and scanners TOSHIBA and ASUS both show Laserjet on DESKTOP as default. Trying to print a test page yields the following:
Operation could not be completed (error 0x000006ba)
The server print spooler service is not running. Please restart the spooler on the server
    or restart the server machine.
in services, print spooler is running and set on automatic
When I go to print a document on either of these, DESKTOP Laserjet is a choice, but nothing happens and no document appears in the queue.
LENOVO is worse. Laserjet does not show up as a printer at all either under devices or as a choice in printing documents (choices are Fax or Microsoft Print to PDF). I have tried to add \\DESKTOP\Laserjet but it can't find it. I can't figure out what the IP address is even if it should have one.
One other weird thing is that when I click on Network in file explorer, DESKTOP:gradyland:
shows up under media devices on all four computers.
The objective is to be able to print to HP Laserprinter from any computer instead of transferring the document to DESKTOP.
All computers are using the current version of Windows 10 Home. I am not using Homegroups. I have sharing turned on everywhere (I think)

    :)

  2. Unable to print to a network printer when connected to both wireless and wired networks

    Hi Eileen,

    • As far as i'm aware nothing has changed
    • i have only tried to send test pages to the network printer so im assuming so yes
    • wireless printer works fine when connected to both networks. However the wifi doesn't connect auto when an Ethernet connection is established this has to be manually connected.
    I have tried the following:

    • updated the print driver
    • changed the network port it was plugged into
    • ran windows updates
    • configured with a static
    • changed the wifi and Ethernet priority
I will run through the trouble shoot steps as suggest and come back to you.

FYI - he has a number of extenders dotted around, a collegue mentioned it could be a subnet issue?

    thanks, Ben

Did our Epson printer get hacked?

Another question, is this on a home network or a work network? The steps @eidairaman1 listed are always a good first step. If this is on a work network you manage, I'd be much more concerned than the home one. It is possible someone is screwing with you, but malware could also be the culprit.
