  1. Network problems - ethernet over powerline

    Hi,

Here's hoping someone can help me with connection issues...

I'm running Windows10 Pro 64bit on my workstation. Connected to internet via ethernet cable which is connected to Devolo powerline adapter.

This has worked fine for almost 2 years now but since 2 months I'm having issues.

My network is not recognized anymore used to be "Devolo ####", now just named "Network", neither are any other networks in the neighbourhood, which used to be listed too.

I am, however, most of the times connected to the internet after startup... until all the sudden I will lose connection and I have to reboot to be able to go online again. It can take 10min before I lose connection or 10 hours.

When I disconnect the ethernet cable, I am unable to find any networks.

I've tried everything I found online to try to fix this:

updated drivers for network adapter, as well as all windows updates that windows finds when looking for updates.

    uninstalled/reinstalled adapter,

letting windows troubleshooter find issues: none found.

    Checked DHCP settings, etc.

I uninstalled all software I'm not using anyway. I disabled as many startup apps as possible.

I checked for viruses, also tried with disabled antivirus-app Bitdefender,

    I disabled ipv6

updated firmware on powerline adapters. Devolo app says all are working fine.

    reset the powerline adapter.

I even upgraded my modem to a newer model provided by my internet provider.

None of the above actions resolved the issue.

I have 8 machines to the powerline network, none have any issues except my workstation for which network data I post below.

    Can someone please help me?

I don't really care about how my network is named, but it's really irritating to lose connection at random times, having to reboot.

My tablet and phone do find the powerline network via wifi, so I know it's not the powerline adapter.

Any tips on checks I could do, or other actions that could help are greatly appreciated.

I am desparate enough to start thinking my hardware is not functioning as it should, which would be a shame because the pc is only 2 years old.

    System data:

Windows version 1909 OS build 18363.836

Using a router to connect PC with Ethernet

Well Ethernet isn't an option atm, and powerline networking depends on the wires you already have in the house (which will be very old) have any suggestions on top notch wireless network adapters?

    Powerline Ethernet adapter?

This is a nice little video covering Powerline networking vs. wireless vs. ethernet. It is a great alternative to wireless for sure, but not as nice as an actual direct ethernet connection.

There was also a review on these here at TPU. Air Live HP-3000E 200Mbps Ethernet over Powerline Adapters Review
