    Network sharing

    windows version number 10.0.19041.508

So, every time Windows 10 does some major update/upgrade, it messes with my husband's/my ability to network with each others' computers. It is just us on the network. This time, I click this and that on my computer, finding his computer name in different places and finally one of the selections allows me access to his files. He has Windows 8. However, before this most recent update, he would go to networks, find my computer name and click on; but now they are asking him for network user name and password. We don't have a network user name and password. We used to have one for Homegroup, but that was eliminated. I have both for my Microsoft account. The other times this has occurred I had to speak with a Microsoft tech who accessed both of our computers and added/changed complex paths so we could easily find each others computer names and click on. That path seems to be cut off with the major updates. Is there a simple answer to amend this? Rather than contacting technicians.

    Thanks

    :)
