Windows 10: New Folder Creation

I have this problem where when I try to create a New Folder on my Desktop

it is automatically named New Folder (2), which indicates that there is already a folder somewhere

on the desktop with the same name (New Folder)



I have tried locating it through various searches in the file explorer, (hidden files was checked)

I have also tried to change the default naming template from the Regedit to New Folder, but that doesn't seem to do anything

still pops up as New Folder(2)

The only reference I have to this folder is this pop-up message that appears when I try to rename to New Folder.

I wish to find this folder and delete/rename it because my OCD has been burning my insides for years now.
