Windows 10: New HP laptop wont support HDMI adapter

Hi there,We have a new HP laptop and want to extend the viewing to 2 additional screens. I can plug in one screen with the HDMI cord direct to laptop but as soon as I add the USB splitter to the laptop to enable the second screen, it wont connect. I have checked the anti virus and turned of USB option and have also gone into device manager and uninstalled/reinstalled and updated the usb drivers. help!!

My hp laptop wont turn on

This is a frequent problem am sure as you have already seen from online searches.

Flea power is usually the culprit here, basically its residual power that remains on the computer even after thecomputer has been shutdown. You can drain the flea power with the steps the other answers have suggested.

• Disconnecting the battery and adapter
• Press the hardpress the power button for 30 seconds
• This should clear the flea power

Let's troubleshoot your issue step by step:



1. Check the basics:

Make sure the HDMI cable is securely plugged into both the laptop and the TV.

If possible, try using a different HDMI cable.

Make sure your TV is set to the correct input source (usually labeled HDMI 1, HDMI 2, etc.).



2. Restart and reconnect:

Restart your laptop and TV.

Once both devices have fully booted up, connect the HDMI cable again.



3. Display settings:

Press Windows + P on your keyboard to open display settings.

Select the appropriate display mode (such as Duplicate or Extend) to use the TV as a secondary display. Duplicate should be selected.



4. Update your graphics driver:

Open Device Manager (search in the Windows search bar).

Expand the Display adapters section.

Right-click the display adapter and select Uninstall device. Check the box to remove the driver software.

Restart your laptop and Windows will automatically reinstall the graphics driver.



You can also manually download and install the most recent graphics driver from the HP Support website . You can provide your computer model here and I will search for you.



5. Sound output settings:

Right-click the speaker icon in the system tray and select "Open Sound Settings".

Under "Output", select HDMI output as the default device.



6. BIOS and driver updates:

Update the laptop's BIOS, chipset, and audio drivers from the HP Support website .



You can do all the steps above, and if your computer has a DP interface, you can use DP to HDMI to connect to the TV.
