Windows 10: New install of build 10074 failed: system_thread_exception_not_handled

I was running 10049 on my laptop as a KVM guest. I hadn't gotten to see Spartan/Edge, so I wanted to upgrade. Windows update failed to install 10074, so I figured I'd just download the iso and install on a new VM.

Unfortunately, I get the error 'system_thread_exception_not_handled' before setup even starts. Then, it boot-loops.

I see notes pertaining to hardware requirements, but 10049 was fine, and my hardware is unchanged. I'm using the highest virtual video driver in KVM, QXL. The other options fail to work as well. There just isn't much else for me to fiddle with.

Any other ideas?

Stuck in Build 10041

I have been stuck in Build 10041 for about a month. I can’t install build 10074, it goes to about 95 percent of install and then fails and the reverts back to 10041 The entire process takes about 3 hours is it possible to skip that build and installed
a newer build?

 

Windows 10: Failed updates on notebooks from build 10074

Build 10074 is an 'old' insider build of Windows 10 and, if it hasn't been updated, presumably you failed to activate it through your Microsoft Account, which was a requirement of the Insider Program.

 

I should add that the host is an i7-powered notebook, I've given the guest 4gb RAM and 2 CPUs. I can give it more, but as I mentioned-10049 worked very well with the same config.
