  1. New Malwarebytes 3.0 and the need for anti virus internet security

although I haven't experienced any issues myself. This is good to know I managed to get a hold of 2 lifetime licensee so I plan to do a clean install of mwb after my trails expire. lol such a lazy IT guy sometimes.

So far I haven't had any issues and I've been using just MWB and have my avast disable. so I defiantly will not be renewing my avast this time around. I may still keep my options open. I am just trying to see if at this point I should just run antivirus or internet security suite. and the debate of paid vs free. I have a feeling that this is going to have to be a trail by error and experience for my self. I just want to see what anyone suggest at this point for firewall, internet security worth it or not. strengthen firewall other ways. free anti-virus paid anti-virus

New Malwarebytes 3.0 and the need for anti virus internet security

    Hi Guys

What on Earth are you people DOING on your machines that need all that stuff

What on earth does Malware Bytes do that Windows Defender doesn't or can't.

In any case if you take simple precautions like regular backups, don't open dubious emails or fall for scams you won't get infected - and even if you do a quick restore will fix it far faster than hours of fiddling around with Virus removal stuff which you can never guarantee will be 100% effective in any case.

Also PLEASE FOLKS CHECK YOUR ROUTER LOGS REGULARLY - this is a HUGE GOOD resource to see if anything both inbound and outbound is happening on your machine too.

I've NEVER understood why people need more than one AV program -- it either does its job or it doesn't. From all the DECENT literature out there Windows Defender does the job perfectly adequately - just because 1 program finds x or another finds y doesn't at all mean program a is better or worse than program b - people access different sites and use computers totally differently.

To my mind in C21 for domestic users Computer security "Experts" are just another "semi-Scam" usually praying on people's fear and ignorance.

Can't remember where the quote came from but still valid today :

"The Price of Education might be high - but The price of Ignorance is Astronomical".

Surf safely, use common sense and you will only need the bog standard WD product.

(For Corporates - different issues -- my remarks are directed to HOME users only).

    Cheers

I've mentioned before Jimbo that not everyone is tech savvy, I've known plenty of people blindly open links they received via email or that juicy offer popup. They don't have the experience to know better. For them, they absolutely must have protection against their own stupidity.
