New pc build , BSOD ntoskrnl.exe

Greetings! Recently I built my new pc. Have been having some BSOD issues (ntoskrnl.exe). I thought i had it resolved but i tried to play a new game(BlackDesert) and it popped up again. The minidump is attached. So far i have tried old nvidia drivers(359.06) after removing the newest ones with DDU and updating all of the other drivers. I ran the ASUS stress test on the cpu, gpu and memory for two hours and had no errors. All of the hardware is new except for the video card. Have tried reinstalling direct x. This is also the 2nd clean install of windows 10 i have used

At this point i am out of ideas, hopefully someone here will have suggestions.

    windows 10 education version
    asus z170a motherboard
    asus gtx670 gpu [
    Trident Z] F4-3200C16Q-16GTZB
    corsair rm850i psu
    Intel Skylake i5-6600k
    Samsung 950 m.2
    Samsung 850 EVO x2

Blue screen crashes with new pc

It has been about 2 hours since doing a clean boot and I received a new BSOD:

This was probably caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe (nt+0x16C560)

    Bugcheck code: 0x1E (0xFFFFFFFFC0000005, 0xFFFFF802E8DF8834, 0x0, 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF)

    Error: KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

    file path: C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntoskrnl.exe

BlueScreenView highlights ntoskrnl.exe and partmgr.sys as the cause.

Here is the new Dump file Dump.zip

  3. Windows 10 Creators Update BSOD kernel crash - UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP

    Hi,

we're facing same BSOD on all PC's with Creators Update in our Company (to be honest up to today there's 3 Machines in production use right now, we stopped rollout).

Since last update last week (15063.413) crash address changed from "ntoskrnl.exe+16c310" to "ntoskrnl.exe+16c3f0".

May be you can check this, too?

For testing purpose I did a clean VM-Install from MSDN media (Build 1703) and got same BSOD.

I also tested with Inside PreView / FastBuild 2 weeks ago, there I couldn't reproduce BSOD so far (although I didn't check latest release / just upgrading this moment).

You can check my minidumps here:
    Minidump

Hello recopatr1 and welcome to 10forums! *Smile

Sorry for the late reply, we aren't that many here in BSOD support section!

Please update the USB drivers by going to the Support page for your motherboard:
    Z170-A
^ You will need to select your OS + bit version, after that you are presented with a list, click on USB and download the Version 1.16.24.0&1.16.29.1 !Note do not select the Beta ones!

Also please perform these tests, first right click on the Windows start key in the left bottom corner -> select Command Prompt(Admin) -> type and press enter:

    sfc /scannow

and after that it has finished type this:

    chkdsk /r /f

And then we have many dump files that point to your graphic card drivers, here are the latest ones available for your card:
    364.51 - WHQL

Updated drivers and Ran the sfc scannow , it completed without errors. The chkdsk got to 11% and then restarted without errors. I wonder if the m.2 drive is the issue? I guess i assumed if that was the case the issue would be more constant. It really only pops up when i play graphics intensive games. I ran the dm log collector again and attached.

    thanks!

What drivers have you checked for driver verifier?
It looks like I can't reach the support page of your motherboard, I can't check anything so someone needs to check for drivers for Windows 10...

  7. Hello Patrick.

Please head again over to Asus Support page and update your LAN driver:
    Z170 A

Also there was one BSOD caused by siusbxp.sys, info about it here:
    siusbxp.sys

    And please update it here:
    USBXpress

    Also run Intel Driver Updater:
    Intel Support

New pc build , BSOD ntoskrnl.exe

Axe0- I ran driver verifier againt all non-microsoft drivers.

Boris- I installed the siliconlabs sdk and ran the intel updater. Intel did not find any updates. I also removed the LAN drivers and installed the latest version. Was able to play black desert for about 25 minutes and then got the dpc-watchdog bsod =X

Edit: Not sure if it makes a difference but it seems to trigger if i have a game running in window mode and then click to my 2nd monitor in a web browser.

I also just tried driver verifier again and it found the USB drivers, so i removed them again and reinstalled. It then found a siliconlabs driver for my corsair h100i i unplugged the usb cable. After a restart with driver verifier running it just bootloops without an error. I was able to get to safemode and remove verifier. Updated crash logs.

    thanks!

  9. Hello Patrick sorry that no one checked your thread, there aren't just that many people here.

The most recent BSOD from 2 days ago still pin point your graphics card driver.

And if we look beyond the 21st of March then there are only known drivers, like the USB drivers etc.

I don't know if you even did a complete uninstall of your graphics card drivers, but please follow this guide if you haven't:

    DDU

Boris- No problem , this has been a frustrating build and i appreciate any help i can get! As it is i am sitting on about $1,000 worth of parts that dont work *Smile..

I have used DDU to perform a clean install several times but will attempt it again today when i get home. Should i use the latest nvidia drivers for the test?

i also put the video card into my old pc and had no issues with it. I have reinstalled windows 10 a few times already, is it worth trying to get windows 7 installed?

  11. Hmm Patrick, this is getting quite tricky since you have already done so many tests and nothing seems to crack the nut so to say.

Although I think I've found something though I'm not sure why it hasn't pin pointed this.

The memory you have in your System Specs information box does not match any of the memories that are listed in the Memory QVL for your motherboard, you might also have entered a false product serial but I still would like for you to checking this:

    Z170-A QVL/
    ^ it's the second link.

Most probably you have entered the wrong information and I'm grasping at nothing but especially with computer you have to be precise!

    Boris-

I ran DDU and installed the nvidia drivers ,this time i pulled the ones from the Asus website as i had not tried those. I ran furmark and was able to trigger the DPC bsod by opening chrome after a few minutes. Updated logs are attached.

The memory i got is G.SKILL TridentZ Series 16GB Intel X99 Platform Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C16Q-16GTZB - Newegg.com which does not appear to be on the QVL.

I will try and call ASUS for support on the memory and see what they have to say.

    thanks!

  13. New pc build , BSOD ntoskrnl.exe

Hmm, damn I'm really confused, um there is one thing you could still try and that is to turn off hardware acceleration in Chrome settings, again I might be throwing rocks into the water, anyway here is a guide:

    • Open Google Chrome.
    • Click Customize and Control Google Chrome > Settings.
    • Click on "Show advanced settings" and scroll to the "System" section.
    • Uncheck "Use hardware acceleration when available" and restart Google Chrome.

And like I said Patrick it seems to be quite a small thing there at the end which differs from the other models, it might be something ASUS forgot to update or worst case scenario, you'll have to go with new RAM sticks.

    Happy to help!

    Boris-

Will try that. Newegg set me up with an RMA for the ram, I'm having some issues trying to find a compatible replacement from the QVL though. I'll keep at it and update if i find anything that works. Thanks again for all of the suggestions.
