Samsung introduces new and faster 870 Evo SATA SSD

Samsung Electronics, the world leader in advanced memory technology, today announced the release of 870 EVO SSD, the company’s latest SATA solution in its world’s best-selling consumer SSD series.1 The new drive combines best-in-class performance and reliability, making it an all-round storage solution for a wide range of consumers from general PC users to IT professionals.

The Samsung 870 EVO features the company’s latest V-NAND and controller, allowing it to reach the maximum SATA sequential read and write speeds of 560 and 530MB/s, respectively. Using a large variable SLC buffer, the drive’s Intelligent TurboWrite technology helps maintain its peak performance levels. The 870 EVO also delivers a nearly 38% improvement in random read speed over the previous 860 model,2 enabling enhanced user experiences when multi-tasking, web browsing or simply booting up PCs.

Harnessing its accumulated experience and expertise in storage memory technologies, Samsung designs all SSD components in-house to ensure that every part works together cohesively. As a result, the 870 EVO offers around 30% improvement in sustained performance over the 860 EVO,3 as well as a class-leading terabytes written (TBW) rating of 2,400TB,4 or a 5-year limited warranty, for its 4TB model.5

SSD Samsung Evo 850 & Samsung Magician RAPID mode

Hi guys, i'm using win 10 pro x64 on a samsung evo 850 120gb ssd. My samsung magician just can't recognize the OS, anyone knows how to fix? Thank you and sorry for my bad grammar! *Tongue

Samsung 950 Pro M.2 and rapid mode

Just FYI: Samsung removed RAPID mode support from some of their models in the later Samsung Magician versions. I am certain of it, since I was using my 970 EVO on my desktop for a while and it was working with RAPID mode. But a few version updates later, it was removed and now 970 EVO is in the unsupported list. I even tested when I had RAPID mode and got over 2000 Megabits transfer rate and above.

I have to wholeheartedly disagree with your statement as Samsung never had Rapid Mode support for NVMe drives. And I say that as an owner of a Samsung 950 Pro (512GB) NVMe drive - which was one of their first NVMe releases. And Magician never supported it for Rapid Mode.

Also, the 970 EVO came out at about the same time as the 970 Pro (of which I have two) and Rapid Mode isn't support on those either (Magician 6.1.0, latest version) ....

Do Samsung NVMe M.2 SSDs have RAIPD Mode support?
