Birdwatch: Weâve added Birdwatch, a pilot program in the US of a community-driven approach to addressing misleading information on Twitter. Learn more here.

Carousels: Weâve rolled out Image/Video Carousel ad formats for Promoted Tweets on Twitter.com.

DMs: Weâve added social context information to message requests in your inbox. This should give you a better idea of who has sent the DM, and whether theyâre someone you might know.

Hover Labels: Weâve been working to improve and expand our hover labels! To start, weâve added hover labels to the side navigation when itâs collapsed to help give you more context. Weâve also added them to the composer, media viewer sidebar, and the home timeline switch.

Pre-Roll Ad Redesign: Weâve made a number of updates to Pre-roll video ads on Twitter.com to improve ad attribution and the overall user experience.

Retweets: The Retweets button will once again display the Retweet and Quote Tweet menu instead of directly opening the Quote Tweet composer.

Topics: Topic pills in the Suggested Topics module now have an âXâ button which allows you to indicate when youâre not interested in a Topic.

Verified Accounts: Weâve added an educational sheet for the verified badge, and a new flow for verified accounts to remediate issues and violations.

DMs: The tombstone for sensitive media in DMs will now show more informative text in the button to display media, letting you know whether itâs a photo, video, or GIF.

Emoji Picker: The recently used section in the emoji picker will now update when closing the picker, instead of in realtime. This will make it easier to select emojis from the recently used section without them reordering while youâre making selections.

Misinformation Prompt: When youâve selected Like or Retweet on an embedded Tweet that has been flagged as misinformation, youâre brought to the Web client and shown a confirmation prompt. This prompt now has a link for more information about the Tweet.

Topics: Increased the size of the Topic pills in the Suggested Topics carousel on mobile devices.

Topics: For recommended Topic Tweets, weâve increased the size of the context header on the Tweet detail screen.

Fixed

Accessibility: Improved focusing of entries which are lists for screen reader users.

Accessibility: Corrected some issues with navigating timelines using the âjâ and âkâ keys. More updates are in progress.

Accessibility: Improved labeling of the account switcher.

Carousels: Fixed issues with keyboard navigation when viewing carousel content fullscreen.

Composer: The composer will no longer show a flash of a loading spinner when loading the home timeline.

Conversation Controls: Education for conversation controls will no longer display âyou can replyâ prompts when viewed while logged out.

DMs: Fixed an issue where list items were missing borders in the Message requests inbox.

DMs: You should no longer see the sensitive media interstitial for messages youâve sent.

DMs: The filter graphic media setting will now correctly show as enabled by default.

Education Prompts: Weâve made changes to prevent users from seeing educational prompts after theyâve already been shown.

Explore: Improved link readability on Explore header content.

Lists: Private Lists will now display a proper error message instead of a blank screen in cases where the List was not found.

Lists: Fixed an issue where navigating into Lists from a notification was showing an error.

Lists: Reordering your pinned lists will now properly save the updated ordering. Also resolved issues with deleting pinned lists.

Photo Editor: Improved spacing and presentation in the GIF editor.

Profile: Fixed visibility of the error message on the edit profile screen letting you know name is a required field.

Text: Fixed an issue where you were unable to highlight certain blocks of text.

Toasts: Muting an account through the reporting flow will now show the correct screen name in the toast thatâs displayed.

Tweets: Fixed an issue where selecting Like on a Tweet with limited engagements would show a prompt on top of the information modal.

Tweets: Non-compliant Tweets without a tombstone will now correctly disable Tweet actions.

Tweets: While editing photos in a Tweet, zooming on iOS should no longer cause broken images.

Tweets: The âxâ key will now correctly trigger the block action when focusing a specific Tweet.

New

Lists: Added a richer list header and viewing experience to show more information about the list you are viewing and make some of the information easier to access.

A11Y: High contrast mode is now available. This increases the contrast between colors and elements on the site. It’s located in Settings -> Accessibility.

Topics: Users in certain locales can now follow topics on the site, they can also be managed from your profile. Users can also view other public users’ followed topics.

ChromeOS: Welcome to our new ChromeOS users! We hope you enjoy the new and improved Twitter experience.

Developer Experience: We completed a lot of internal work to help make development on the site quicker, and allow us to share code across Twitter sites. Thanks to our infrastructure engineers for their effort on this milestone!

Updated

Gallery: You can now swipe to dismiss photos on mobile! On desktop, we updated the gallery experience to be more immersive and you can exit the modal by clicking in the empty space around the media.

Trends: See a trend that’s not quite right? Use the dropdown menu next to it to give us feedback and help report issues.

Events: Videos from events can now be docked to the page when you leave so that you can continue watching as you browse the rest of Twitter.

Gifs: Streamlined the GIF Search flow by removing the intermediate “Add GIF” confirmation screen and allowing users to search as they type. Give the gift of GIFs even faster!

Android: Android users can now “share” media directly from other apps on their phone into the Tweet composer on the Web App, when installed.

Fixed

Compose: Improved performance of the composer which could feel sluggish in some scenarios.

DMs: Fixed an issue where the DM badge would persistently return, even after viewing messages.

A11Y: Re-added some keyboard shortcuts that had broken.

Darkmode: Removed the left and right borders from the content on mobile.

Explore: Fixed the Pull to Refresh always being shown on mobile phones in certain locales.

We added the ability to update your language preference on web. You can check and update your language in settings.

Windows: Swipe keyboard should no longer crash when composing a Tweet.

Screen reader support: Confirmations and errors will now be read out (e.g. Your Tweet was sent).

New

Multiple Accounts: Users can now quickly switch between multiple accounts and view notification counts for all logged in accounts. Our Help Center has instructions on how to get it set up.

Quote Tweet: You can now add images and GIFs when quoting a tweet. Previously, if you wanted to Retweet with a comment you could only use text.

Moment Maker: You can now access and create moments from your profile’s Moments page.

Updated

Media Gallery: When opening the photo gallery, photos will now show up immediately, and the full-resolution will load after. This should make it feel much more responsive, especially on slower, cellular connections. Users of data saver will now not load the full-resolution, allowing them to view the uncropped version or zoom on it without consuming additional data.

Events: Added “Up Next” functionality on Event pages, now videos associated with the Event will play one after each other.

PWA: Improved the resolution of the PWA app icon, made it look better on certain Android devices.

Codebase: Reworked how linking is handled throughout the app, done through a team-wide Hackday. This change is largely invisible, but should improve the responsiveness of certain links.

Security: We’ve updated our Two-Factor Auth to use FIDO2 WebAuthn protocol, which allows support for more browsers and authenticators while also retaining all of the phishing resistant capabilities security key-based 2FA provides. Only hardware keys are currently supported, with additional support coming later.

Fixed

Direct Messages: Fixed an issue where high resolution photos would always fail to send in DMs

Events: Events with long names now truncate much more nicely

Bug: Some click/press confusion within the App has been fixed
