Windows 10: New windows 10 20H2 deployment, updates failure 0x800F0983

Hi


we have a WSUS infrastructure and updates are well deployed on existing 20H2 computer but the new deployed one get a failure when installing updates

0x800F0983


I use MDT to deploy the image so its a clean setup but when applying the KB it failed. after if i try to install it manually by downloading the KB it failed too

I already restart services et clean the softwaredistribution & catroot but same issue ; also the troubleshooting tool do not find any issue


how can i attached the logs here .. ?

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Update 20H2

What's the link between cloning and the update failing? I don't understand why you suddenly refer to cloning.

setupdiag.exe might give information on what happened. It's MS's attempt to match cases vs known types of failures, so its utility is variable. Otherwise you'll have to look at the logs.

I guess a screenshot of your partitions is a step too far for you.

And of course, there may be some underlying 20H2 bug...

I am Sumit, an Independent Advisor and a 3 year Windows Insider MVP here to help.

20H2 should not be installed right-away on your device - MS said the rollout is only to a fraction of users and would be labeled as an optional update initially. Are you enrolled in WIP?

You may uninstall 20H2 using the steps below:
