Windows 10: New windows 10 installation, BSOD caused by 'ntkrnlmp.exe'

File 011821-6796-01.dmp says the crash is probably caused by : CI.dll, and every other dump says ntkrnlmp.exe.


It's a computer that had to have it's motherboard changed. I had my old asrock P67 pro3 + intel i5 2500k lying around, so I changed those in to the machine. Last time these parts were in use, they worked fine. I reinstalled fresh windows 10 from USB and formatted the drive during installation. There's no overclocking on the cpu.


The system boots fine, and there's no BSOD while idle on desktop. It just randomly crashes while installing something Windows update, driver etc.. Is there maybe some BIOS setting that could be causing something like this? Or is the mobo just broken?

Installing Windows 10 on New PC?

I'm going to be building a new PC on Christmas and want to install Windows 10 on it. I have Windows 10 on my current PC, which I installed upgrading from 8.1 with the files on a USB. How do I go about installing a clean copy of Windows 10 on this new PC? I think I recall something about installing it once makes Microsoft recognize your hardware, but since this will be a PC I'm not sure what steps I need to take. Do I need to go 8.1 -> 10 or is there a method of going directly to 10?
