Windows 10: New Windows 11 PC; constant restart, "INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE"

INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE after Windows Update


My Windows 10 Pro PC received the latest round of updates, and when it restarted, it bluescreens with the error INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE.

I did a system restore to a previous restore point, and everything booted and ran perfectly, but of course it then goes out to get the latest updates, and the same thing happens with it bluescreening and throwing the INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE error.

I followed many suggestions from a Google Search including disconnecting all drives other than the boot drive, running chkdsk /f on the boot drive, allowing Windows 10 to "auto-fix startup problems", and several other things, and it always bluescreens.

I temporarily disabled the Windows Update service so it doesn't go out and auto-grab the updates, but at some point, I will need to apply updates, and I expect future updates to result in the same bluescreen error.

Suggestions?

 

Inaccessible_boot_device, then PC restarts, then works. Every time

This is a very unique problem.

Since Feb 6th 2024 every time I boot my PC it hangs on the boot for about 2 minutes then crashes to Inaccessible_boot_device bluescreen, then restarts, then boots up normally.

I have tried driver rollbacks and all sorts of things but it still happens... The fact that it boots after a restart indicates to me that it isn't hardware related but software.

PC runs fine once it's started.

What could be causing this? I use windows 11.

 

Inaccessible_Boot_Device Error into non-working Troubleshoot Screen

Laptop: Alienware 15

Problems I've run into before: Inaccessible_Boot_Device restart cycle, Video_Scheduler_Internal_Error, constant crashing Intel graphics drive (autofixes but constant crashes in a wiki page)

Fixes I have tried: Updated all graphic drives, restarted with updates

Current problem:

- Starting computer from hibernate but screen prompt was for low battery

- Plugged in AC Adapter and cables into computer then hit F1 as prompted for continuing startup

- Ran into Inaccessible_Boot_Device error and computer was restarted

- Computer restarts and takes me to Choose an Option (Troubleshoot or Turn Off PC)

- In Troubleshoot menu:

• "Reset this PC"- "Keep My Files" = "The drive where Windows is installed is locked. Unlock drive and try again"
• "Reset this PC" - "Remove Everything" = "There was a problem resetting your PC"
• "Factory Image Restore" = Error prompt appears

Within Advanced Options:

• System Restore - "To use SR, you must specify which Windows installation to restore. Restart this computer, select an operating system and then select System Restore"
• Startup Repair - Systems cannot be repaired
• System Image Recovery - Error prompt is given
• Command Prompt - Attempted to boot into safe mode, however the system says it cannot restart the computer
• UEFI Firmare Settings - I have no clue what to do there
• Go back to the previous build - "We ran into a problem and won't be able to take you back to the previous build. Try resetting your current build instead (Troubleshoot > Reset this PC)

I guess my question is...

How on earth do I fix this problem and get to my start screen?! I just wanted to start getting some work done!
