    New Windows update 11242018

I had no issues prior to MS pushed an updated to my Surface 3, running Windows 10, Word 365. As the update was completing a message appeared stating the computer will shutdown at least 3 times to complete the updates. Additionally, another message appeared stating, "it was taking longer than excepted to update."Upon signing back-in all I get is the desktop w/icons and sometime the tool bar w/standard start-up icons (google, explorer, and a few misc icons) and still no internet connection.

An error box in the center of the screen with 2 lines of text read, "sihost.xex - System Warning" and " Unknown Hard Error" with an "ok" button. When I select the ok button the screen goes blank and blue in color.

I used ctl atl delete to shut down the computer and restart; which takes up to 7 mins to open back to the computer's screen saver reflecting no internet connect (lower right corner). Moving onto the sign-on screen and inserting my password it takes another 4 mins to load to the desk top as described above.

If I select the Window Start icon (lower left corner) nothing loads and the error box is still on the screen, and the tool bar remains unchanged.

I was able open the "Control Panel" from the desk top. I selected Review computer status" selecting "Maintenance" and View reliability history". The report showed all drivers installed successfully.

The second area: Warning on Feature update to Windows 10 version 1803 reported in "View technical" Installation failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070643: Windows 10 version 1803.

The third area: Critical events on Windows not properly shut down. Upon selecting "View technical" supplied a description of shut down being unexpected (the update shut down the computer)

I did research error 0x80070643, however unable to preform the updates due to no access to the internet.

Pop-up window on low disk space, which should not be an issue

    :)

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond New Windows update 11242018 :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.
