Newer versions of Windows 10 will not idle, screensaver or go to sleep

I am using Windows 10 Professional version 1803. If I update to the latest version, something about that prevents my computer from idling. As such, my screensaver and power options do not automatically activate. I have to use them manually and they only work when I do set them manually. Right now it's working as expected but I can't update unless it will give me the ability to turn off the monitor, etc.

    Any ideas?

    :)

    Sleep when not idle

Of late, Win10 Pro has taken to sleeping while viewing lengthy videos, instead of waiting until the PC is idle for the period specified. No changes have been made to power/sleep/screensaver settings or programs.

Not the case in the past. A system image from months ago was restored but spontaneous sleep persists.

Most all suggestions from the Net have been tested. Network, chipset and video drivers are current.

Could this annoyance be the result of a Windows update? If so, which one?

    New ideas welcomed.

    screensaver versus no screensaver

IMHO the best screensaver is to have your monitor sleep when idle.
Lowest power usage, lowest cpu usage, lowest everything and longest lifespan.

I would suggest you to try the following steps and check if that helps.

    • Go to the folder C:\Windows\System32 and sort by file type.
    • Look for the screensaver file type (.scr).
    • Find the file scrnsave.scr(you can choose any of the screensavers).
    • Right click and select send to>desktop (create shortcut). The shortcut on my attachment, but when i click on it my screen goes off and on and nothing else.Newer versions of Windows 10 will not idle, screensaver or go to sleep :)
