    Newly imaged SSD with free Win10 Pro ISO suddenly wants activation key, cannot bypass

    Hi, I have a friend who's HDD failed. I found out later that the HDD that died was on Win10 Home So I purchased them a new SSD and used the Win10 install tool from microsoft to install Win10 Pro for them. I installed the new SSD and reinstalled all their apps from scratch etc, and got everything set up and working. I personally have used pc's with "unactivated" Windows for years, and it should never be a problem. It worked for several months until the other day, they called me and said windows is suddenly asking for an activation key, and they can't bypass it to use their computer.I've used

  2. Win10 Pro activation post-RMA of motherboard & SSD

    I bought a Win10Pro key, motherboard, SSD.

    Installed and activated.

    Had to RMA the motherboard, wiped the new SSD and am using it for storage on different device.

    Got motherboard back and installed. Still have Win10Pro product key, but I'm using the original (not newly bought) SSD (new one is wiped anyway).

    Receiving code 0xc004f050.

    Troubleshooter sends me here.

    Key should be active on my account (I'm told) but I don't know how to get Pro on this device.

    Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

    When in win10:
    • Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....
    Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
    - Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.
