Windows 10: NEXTBOOK windows tablet camera

Except using the camera drivers instead, obviously. The built-in Windows 10 camera app is very finicky on this tablet. Not sure if maybe a third party camera app would work better. I don't ever actually use the tablet cameras (although I am going to travel soon with the Navy, so might use Skype in the future with it) but it does bug me when something doesn't work when it is supposed to.

 

I don't understand what you say, I temporarily uninstalled the camera app, now how do I install the drivers I exported from windows8 on device manager if there is no 'imaging devices' on the list?

 

Right click on Windows start icon, select device manager. Right click on the topmost entry for the entire tablet itself, select Add legacy hardware. Click next. Select the bottom option, Install the hardware that I manually select..., next. Click next again. Click have disk. Browse to the .inf file that is in the driver folder for the camera. Click open, OK. Highlight the Intel imaging device. Next, Next again. Finish.

Then I would double click the Front and Rear .reg files that were provided in the zip file from my tablet that I linked you to to add the registry entries.

Sorry to bother you, one more problem. Camera works but after i restart the tablet a couple of times, i get black screen when i open the camera. Then i again add both front and rear reg and restart the tablet and camera works again. Then again after a couple of restarting camera shows black screen and i need to add both reg again. Any idea how to solve this problem? Maybe we need to add registry permanently...i dont know. Please help

Mine seems to be doing that too, but it isn't the registry keys. It's fast startup. The workaround (for now) is to turn off fast startup. If I find a driver related solution, I will post it here.

No problem! I very seldom use the camera on my tablet, so I had never noticed fast startup was breaking it.

Hello i have one more problem with my tablet. I dont have windows 10 upgrade file so i do it on windows 8 online. Now that creates a folder windows.old which takes up a lot of space....what to do?

 

Ah yes. Well before you alter it you have to be absolutely sure you don't want to revert back to Windows 8 after you have Upgraded to Windows 10. Basically this folder contains information that can revert you back to Windows 8. So the simple answer is just delete it.

Its a good idea to read this however, before doing so Windows.old folder - Delete in Windows 10

 

Hello , already deleted windows.old folder by using disk cleanup. Just need to know i have total space 28.4gb out of which 17.0gb is free....is that normal? Thanks

 

Yes that seems about right. The Windows 10 operating system can range from taking up 10 to 20 GB, depending on the updates you have installed and other components (e.g apps, settings add-ons etc...). So yes that's about right.

If you wanted to free up more space, see if you can delete any metro apps/programs that you don't think you'll use as these can take up quite a lot of space. Also running CCleaner may help.
