Windows 10: NEXTBOOK windows tablet camera

Make sure you still have the Intel(R) Imaging Signal Processor 2400 driver installed and it did not update to the Intel AVS stream device (or something like that). If the driver got updated to the latest driver from Intel, it stops working.

 

I only updated to Windows 8 driver not any other driver, also I did full reset settings so I got my old driver back

 

Sorry, can't really help you much more. The camera and driver do seem to be really finicky. Mine is currently working every time I boot my tablet from a full shutdown. It just doesn't work with fast startup or sleep/resume.

Read this: How to shutdown Computer and make sure you have fast startup turned off. In addition to your camera driver problem, I would consider contacting NextBook to see if they plan to release a driver for your model for Windows 10.

 

Fast startup only applies to Windows 10. What that does is actually modifies the shutdown process so the computer boots faster the next time you turn it on. First, full shutdown shuts down all processes and then powers off the computer completely. There is nothing regarding operating processes saved on the hard drive. When you restart the computer it starts up all the way from absolutely nothing, loading the bios first, then the boot files from the system partition, then the operating system from the boot partition. (I know, system and boot partitions seem to be backwards, but that is Microsoft called them - and they can be the same partition on a legacy bios system). This allows you to enter bios setup or the custom boot menu from bios at the first bios logo screen when you power on the computer.

Fast startup in Windows 10 saves some of the operating processes at the point of shutdown in a file. Then it sets a flag for the bios that tells it do not boot from scratch. When you power the computer back on, the bios reads the flag that was set and does not give you the option to enter bios setup or change the boot sequence from bios. It goes directly to the system partition where it finds a pointer to the file where the operating processes were saved at shutdown. It loads those operating processes back into memory and restarts them from exactly where they left off. This is faster than starting up everything from scratch.

Some processes, such as the camera drivers on this tablet, don't like to be restarted in the middle. They need to be reinitialized from point zero. And that is why the camera will work without fast startup, because those drivers are re-initialized from point zero without fast startup enabled.

Hello NavyLCDR, sorry to bother you again. Need some help, my camera was not working in windows 10 so i reverted to windows 8.1, but camera still not working, When i open my camera i get "To get started connect camera". I tried reinstalling drivers, reset pc but still same problem...can you help me out?

 

Again, the only thing I can suggest is uninstall the Camera app. Not sure how to do that in Windows 8.1. Uninstall the imaging device driver. Restart the computer. Re-install the imaging device driver and make sure it is for the Intel Imaging Signal Processor 2400. Then you should have two camera sensors that show up under System devices. Then re-install the Camera app.

I just upgraded my tablet to Windows 10 Insider Preview build 14316 and as long as I have fast startup disabled and start the tablet from complete power off both the cameras work and screen rotation works.

Hello NavyLCDR, I googled it, there seems to be no way to uninstall camera app in Windows 8. Maybe I'll go back to Windows 10 and try it or do u think it's a hardware problem?

 

Guess what i connected external camera to windows tablet, camera works but when i remove external camera default camera does not work.....any ideas?

 

The cameras and/or drivers for the camera in these cheap tablets is crap?

 

So u think it's a driver problem?
