Windows 10: nice & clean & FAST!

Ccleaner is a tool.
Like any other tool one must learn how to use it properly.
If one is looking for a one button Fix All then one should not be using a cleaning program.
Like any other tool if used incorrectly it will cause problems.

I use Ccleaner in one fashion or another every day.
Just take the time to learn how to use the program. Don't delete anything if you don't know what it is and what it's used for.
Ccleaner has many functions and capabilities. If one takes the time to learn how to use them it is a very handy tool.

 

I use CCleaner as well along with WiseCare for years, they are pretty safe.
Some manual tweaks like disabling services, hidden Windows tasks and such.
Lets not forget: WinSxS Folder (Component Store) - Clean Up in Windows 8.1

But for the record, I did some CPU/HDD/GPU testing with a clean Windows setup and after using those tools and tweaks and there was zero difference. They are definitely problem solvers and keep PC clean, but it is not like they speed up PC, though I can feel difference on desktop, but that is subjective.

 

the cleaners that say they will speed up your computer are usually the one that got on your computer some other way than you installing them and want money first to fix your computer.

 

Yep, I have 4 computers and they all have SSDs. Very pleased with them.

 

Maybe the speed up only worked in XP.

I've cleaned people's XP PCs with CCleaner and after it deleted a couple of GB(!) of old files, out of their IE caches, IE seemed to run much faster.

 

Prevent, don't clean. Most "dirt" comes from uninstalled programs, use something like Revo Uninstaller to cleanly uninstall programs + "Disk cleanup" and it should be enough.
