    No 1920x1080 resolution option

My screen suddenly went from 1920x1080 to 1024x768 in the middle of running Windows 10.
Never had this problem before and the resolution was just fine on Windows 10 until this happened.
This would be easy to fix if the Resolution options in the Display menu had 1920x1080, but they only go up to 1280x1024!
I tried downloading and manually (Update driver > Browse my computer for driver software > Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer) installing the driver, even though Windows 10 insisted "the best driver for this device is already installed"!
I also tried switching to Generic PnP Monitor and back. Although this affected the resolution somehow, it didn't solve the problem.
And for the record: There is NO Advanced display settings option in the Display menu.
Why can't there just be a 1920x1080 resolution option?
    How do I fix this?

    Monitor: LG E2411 (Analog)

    :)

  2. screen resolution

I have a hp laptop with windows 10 installed my screen maximum resolution is 1920x1080 but I cannot set it, and I don't even see an option for that resolution in display settings, but when I connect my pc to an external monitor everything works fine I can
set my pc resolution to 1920x1080.

    why is that? please help

Microsoft wireless display can't display 1920x1200 resolution

Does anyone know what's the maximum resolution supported by the MWDA v2? I have a monitor with 1920x1200 native resolution but in the display options, it only allows up to 1920x1080, with a recommended resolution of 1680x1050?

    No 1920x1080 resolution option

    Hi Joca,
My wife has just had the same problem on her LG 2240S Monitor.
Windows update today has loaded a new Display Adapter Driver.
    Login as an Administrator.
Go to Control Panel/ Device Manager/ Display Adapters.
Double click on the shown adapter - Select Driver Tab - this will show the driver date.
Click on Roll Back Driver - give reason - then select the previously dated driver and Apply
You may need to re-boot and re-selct correct resolution - but hers switched by itself.
This also happened on my system, but I have a slightly lower resolution monitor so correct setting was available,
via normal screen setting. So seems to be the 1080 height is the problem.

    Good Luck

The Roll Back Driver option was grayed out and unavailable.

But I was able to solve the problem through System Restore.
    Seems excessive, though.
If anyone has a simpler solution, please share.

    Thanks anyway, GavinD.

The Roll Back shouldn't be greyed out. Were you logged in as Administrator?
    Cheers

    I think so.

    It just happened again!

Device Manager > Monitor > LG E2411 (Analog) > Properties > Events says
Device configured (oem44.inf) followed by Device started (monitor) for the time that it happened.

    What's going on here?

Thanks GavinD for the solution worked for me, however to get the grayed "Roll back" option fixed I needed to use AMDCleanupUtility again. Then rebooted and I waited about 10 minutes, Widnows updated drivers by itself and "Roll back" option was available. Now 8.970.100.9001 driver version is installed now. (WIN 10, GPU HD 4670 and LG 22)

Tried using AMDCleanupUtility. Still no Roll Back Driver option for me.
It says I'm using the LG driver from 2012. But still no 1920x1080 resolution option.

Display Adapter/Grapphics Card is what you should be trying to roll back, not your monitor/actual display

No roll back option there either. Says my driver is from 2006.

This just happened to me when Windows 10 updated yesterday - my display went all bonkers, super big, like opening an iPhone app on my iPad. There was no way to set it back either. My 17" monitor was the equivalent of a 13" with really bad resolution. But I rolled back the display driver and I'm back! Now, let's hope it stays that way because my Windows doesn't seem to have the options to turn off the driver updates. Thanks!

    No 1920x1080 resolution option

What exactly is the name of the driver? It should say something like "AMD Radeon HD xxxx Series"

There is another option, you can find the driver and manually install it, it isn't usually great idea to download something from other sites than manufacturer sites. But if there is no other way, you can compare hashes (but I doubt AMD will have hash lists for their drivers somewhere).
Anyway, here are two possible links to drivers in amd community forum:
    Link 1
    Link 2

Driver only supports from HD 2000 up to HD 4000 desktop and mobility series

Mine just went back to normal!

And as I was writing that, it went back to 1024x768... however, I at least have the option to go up to 1856x1392.
When I select the higher resolutions, I get an "out of range" error from the monitor itself.

    What is going on here???

Looks like it updated, check the those drivers again, if there is that rollback option now (non-grayed). Otherwise proceed manually with links.

EDIT: Looks like you got it, I saw it in other discussion. GG WP
