Windows 10: No Audio Output Device is installed

Looks to be a hardware problem, funny how I found out. Went out for a few days and left the laptop alone, came back and it worked. Then it died again when I moved the screen angle. So if I jiggle the laptop around and change the angle of the screen I can get the sound going haha *Smile

Anyone know if that's just a loose cable or it needs a solder or something? And approximately how much that'll cost me?

I'm overseas at the moment so if it's easy and cheap to just get it done here instead of sorting out the warrany I'll do that.

 

Where are speakers, on the screen/cover side or at the base ?

 

Base.. I'm guessing that's a good thing?

 

Usually speakers are on a cable. It will require disassembling the laptop to get at the connector(s). Reseat (unplug then plug back in) the connector(s). Also, many laptops have a small "daughter" board for audio or audio I/O that plugs into the main motherboard. That is another possibility.

 

Well, not very good thing. I was thinking flat cables from base to screen are at fault and that's easy to change.

 

Hmm OK. I might unscrew the base and see if I can find anything dodgey looking (I know that voids the warranty but I need my sound back!)

Many Laptops require access from the top to get to the speaker cables. The bottom may not get you anywhere.

Then again, if its in warranty let whoever is the warranty service provider fix it.
